Some Golf Tips

by Lee MacRae

Read along as we offer up some great tips to improve your game of golf.

A great way to keep the clubhead traveling down the target line after contact is to think of yourself as hitting two balls. Imagine a ball is positioned about 18 inches to 2 feet to the left [or right if you are left-handed] of the actual ball. After you hit the real ball, hit the imaginary ball as well, and to do that, you must have a full extension on the follow-through

Always club down from a driver if, in so doing, you avoid a downhill lie for your second shot. The downhill lie is the toughest of all lies to hit from. An uphill lie, though, isn't difficult at all, just so long as your club selection compensates for the slope. A flat lie is by far the best lie to hit from. So if by staying away from your driver you have the option of a flat or an uphill lie - don't think twice. Club down.

Teeing the ball higher will aid in hitting the ball farther. By teeing the ball higher, it will help achieve better launch angle and reduce backspin at impact. This will allow the ball to be hit on the up-swing - producing more carry and distance.

These simple golf driving tips have proved effective in helping many golfers around the world improve their drives off the tee. Simply apply what you have read here to your own circumstances. Here's to your own improvement!

Thoughts On Golf

Playing The Game
Mechanical thoughts, especially during the backswing, have no place on the golf course. Swing issues and technical moves should be worked out on the practice range. On the course, focus on positive downswing thoughts like accelerate through impact and finish with the right shoulder toward the target. Avoid negative thoughts by visualizing the ballflight you're trying to produce, and swing with that image in mind. A consistent preshot routine helps.

Putting
Very few top golfers break their wrists when they putt. Instead they let their arms hang loosely and hold the putter lightly so both hang like a pendulum from the shoulders.

Can Tiger win the Grand Slam?

Mon, 07 Apr 2008 00:00:01 +0100

When Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie – the Hinge and Bracket of European golf – stop the bickering and consent to agree on something, one knows that thing must have a hell of a lot of credibility. But then golf is seemingly unanimous in believing that this could be the year when Tiger Woods wins the modern game's first calendar Grand Slam.

Masters preview: Dougherty flies west with the goose, primed to fulfil his American dream

Here is how it goes for the Masters first-timer. Arrive on Sunday, spend four days of practice walking around in a trance, whispering things like: "This is where Tiger holed his chip from, right here" to your caddy. On Thursday, tee it up in the first round. Make a few birdies, get all excited. Make a few double bogeys, the odd treble, the even odder quintuple, get all downhearted. On Friday evening, reluctantly hand in your player's pass and desperately look over your shoulder as security ushers you through the gates.
